PLE: The Essential Factor for Success in Assembly

The Objective Production Logistics Engine (PLE) greatly reduces the number of manual actions that need to be performed to control production logistics. PLE is responsible for the automatic connection between the MES and WMS systems.  This makes it possible to coordinate your production and logistics as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible.

Objective MES allows you to create and plan your production orders.  This is linked to certain logistics flows that can be configured according to the needs of your business.  For example, if stock has to be allocated the day before and picked two hours before production starts, this can be set in the software and our PLE ensures that this happens automatically.  The advantage of automatic stock allocation is that it simply cannot be forgotten.

PLE is a unique and advanced feature in Objective.  If you have a warehouse that is not directly in the vicinity of your production but, for example, further across the street, it goes without saying that you will want to store the stock for a full day in advance in a temporary warehouse close by.  PLE can be used to allocate planned orders a day in advance and have them picked to a LPN buffer in Objective.  To bring the stock from the LPN buffer to the production line, you can set it to happen within a certain time, before the start of production.  This setting ensures that your logistics tasks are optimised.

Want to streamline your assembly process? This is possible with sequence carts. Our PLE takes care of the assembly of sequencing carts. The picking process can be optimised and orders can be grouped, resulting in fewer trips and time savings. Our PLE is very powerful and essential to break into the manufacturing industry, as it allows you to automate, optimise and fully utilise our WMS. This combination makes it possible to deliver pick carts and sequencing carts just in time (JIT). The PLE is configured according to certain key values, such as characteristics of an item, characteristics of a production line etc. By choosing these values carefully, any process can be streamlined.

On assembly lines, there is often a lot of variation in the products to be assembled. JIT ensures that an operator only has to search in a limited set of parts, combined with JIS it even ensures that the operator does not have to think about the order anymore and can just take the next parts and assemble them.

Kanban is a principle of working with boxes of stock, usually two. This typically concerns grab stocks. These are products that are always needed on the assembly line but are not worth registering individually, for example a box of screws. Working with Kanban again saves a lot of time.

Within Objective, this stock can theoretically be written off and we know when it will run out. Objective constantly monitors stock levels and has new stock delivered as soon as they fall. As a user, you choose the restocking level yourself. If the practice about the available stock differs from the theory, Objective can manually indicate when new stock should be brought to the line.

In short, Objective’s PLE feature gives you many advantages. Everything is optimised, delivered JIT/JIS to the assembly line and it is done fully automatically.
